Cookie notice
gig.io uses cookies and similar technologies sparingly. We run no advertising and use no third-party analytics or tracking cookies. This notice explains what we store, why, and how you stay in control, and it should be read together with our Terms of Service.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser. We also use comparable local storage in the browser. They let the site remember your session and your preferences between visits.
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to work and cannot be switched off. The session cookie keeps you securely signed in, and the cookie_consent cookie remembers your choice here so we do not ask again. They are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing the service you requested.
Functional (set with your consent)
These remember your preferences: your chosen language (lang) and your light or dark theme (theme), each kept for up to a year, and the last area you viewed on the map (held in your browser local storage). If you choose Essential only, the map view is not stored and we rely solely on strictly necessary cookies.
Third-party services
Interactive maps are provided by Mapbox, which may set its own cookies or storage when a map loads, governed by Mapbox own privacy terms. We do not sell your data and never share your account with advertisers.
Legal basis and your rights
Under the EU ePrivacy rules and the GDPR, strictly necessary cookies are placed without consent, while functional cookies are placed only after you agree. You can withdraw consent at any time, and you have the right to access, correct or erase the limited data these technologies involve.
Managing your choice
Use the banner to accept all cookies or keep only essential ones. You can change your decision at any time by clearing the cookie_consent cookie in your browser, after which the banner reappears. Your browser settings also let you block or delete cookies, though some features may then not work as intended.
