Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (the Terms) govern your access to and use of the gig.io marketplace and related services (the Service), operated from Romania. By creating an account or otherwise using the Service you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully; if you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Who operates gig.io (placeholder)
gig.io is operated by the entity identified below as the "Operator" (also "we", "us"). The Service is currently provided under a placeholder operator while the commercial company that will run gig.io is being finalised — it will not be operated under the founder's personal firm. Before commercial launch we will publish the Operator's full legal name, company registration number, VAT number where applicable, registered office and official contact in this section. Until then, "Operator" means whichever entity lawfully provides the Service at the relevant time.

1. Acceptance and eligibility
By accessing or using gig.io you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract, and you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Cookie notice. If you use the Service on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that business.
2. The role of gig.io
gig.io is an online marketplace that connects customers with independent service providers. We provide the platform only: we are not a party to any contract formed between a customer and a provider, we do not perform the services ourselves, and providers are not our employees or agents. Listings, prices, availability and terms are set by the providers, and a listing is not an endorsement or guarantee by gig.io.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate, current information and keep it up to date, and tell us promptly of any unauthorised use. We may refuse, suspend or reclaim a username, and you may not transfer your account without our consent.
4. Bookings and contracts
When you book a service, a contract is formed directly between you and the provider, on the provider stated terms. gig.io facilitates the booking and related communication but is not responsible for performance. Each of you is responsible for meeting your obligations under that contract, including attending, providing access, and delivering the service as described.
5. Prices, fees and payments
Providers set their own prices. Any platform or service fee is shown to you before you confirm a booking. Where payments are processed through the Service, they may be handled by a third-party payment provider under its own terms. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to you, and providers are responsible for charging and remitting any taxes due on their services.
6. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellation and refund terms are set by the provider and shown on the listing or at checkout. Statutory consumer rights, where they apply, are not affected by those terms. If a service is not delivered as agreed, contact the provider first; gig.io may help resolve disputes but is not obliged to provide refunds for services it does not supply.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use gig.io for anything unlawful, fraudulent, misleading or harmful. Do not post false or deceptive listings, harass or discriminate against other users, circumvent our payment or booking flows, infringe the rights of others, upload malware, scrape or harvest data, or otherwise interfere with the Service or its security. Providers must hold any licences and permits their services require and comply with all applicable laws.
8. Your content, reviews and intellectual property
You keep ownership of the content you submit (listings, photos, messages and reviews) and grant gig.io a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it as needed to operate and promote the Service. Reviews must reflect genuine, first-hand experiences. We may remove content that breaches these Terms. All gig.io software, branding and site content are owned by us or our licensors and may not be copied or reused without permission.
Terms for customers
Booking a service
When you request a booking and a provider accepts it, a contract is formed directly between you and that provider on the terms shown in the listing. You agree to give accurate booking details, be available at the agreed time and place, provide any access or information the provider reasonably needs, and treat providers with respect. gig.io facilitates the booking and messaging but is not a party to that contract and does not perform the service itself.
Prices, payment and cancellations
Prices are set by the provider and shown before you confirm. Unless stated otherwise, payment for the service itself is arranged directly between you and the provider; any platform fees are shown up front. Cancellation and refund terms are set by the provider and displayed on the listing or at checkout, and they do not override the statutory consumer rights that apply to you. If something goes wrong, contact the provider first — we may help resolve a dispute but are not obliged to refund a service we did not supply.
Safety, reviews and conduct
Use your own judgement when engaging a provider and check any licences or qualifications that matter for the job. Reviews must describe genuine, first-hand experiences and must not be abusive, defamatory or paid for. Do not harass or discriminate against providers, and do not arrange to take a booking off-platform to avoid fees. Report any unsafe, fraudulent or illegal behaviour to us so we can act.
Terms for service providers
Listings, licensing and delivery
You provide services as an independent business — not as an employee, agent or partner of the Operator — and you are solely responsible for the services you list and deliver. Your listings must be accurate and not misleading; you must hold all licences, registrations, insurance and permits your services require and comply with all applicable laws and safety rules. Deliver services with reasonable skill and care, honour the prices and availability you publish, and respond to customers promptly.
Membership and fees
Publishing listings requires an active paid membership. Plan prices, the billing cycle and any free trial are shown before you subscribe. Memberships renew automatically until cancelled; you may cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period, after which your listings are hidden until you renew. Fees are billed through our payment provider under its own terms. Except where the law requires otherwise, membership fees already paid are non-refundable.
Taxes and invoicing
Your membership is sold through our payment provider acting as Merchant of Record, which collects and remits any VAT or sales tax due on the subscription and issues the matching invoice. You remain solely responsible for declaring and paying all taxes on the income you earn from services you provide to customers, and for any business registration, invoicing and reporting obligations that apply to you. gig.io does not provide tax or legal advice.
Standards, suspension and your content
We may review listings and remove or suspend content or accounts that breach these Terms or are unlawful, deceptive, unsafe or the subject of repeated complaints; serious or repeated breaches can lead to permanent removal. You grant gig.io a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and promote your listings and related content while they are on the Service. You are responsible for the legality of everything you post and for resolving customer disputes about your services in good faith.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided on an as is and as available basis, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. gig.io is not responsible for the conduct, quality, safety, legality or outcome of services offered by providers, nor for content posted by users. To the fullest extent permitted by law, gig.io is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses; nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your mandatory consumer rights.
10. Consumer rights and dispute resolution
Nothing in these Terms affects the mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence. Consumers in Romania may contact the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), and consumers in the EU may use the European Commission Online Dispute Resolution platform. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any issue.
11. Governing law, changes and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without prejudice to the mandatory protections of your country of residence, and disputes are subject to the competent Romanian courts. We may update these Terms from time to time; material changes take effect when posted and are shown by the date below, and your continued use means you accept them. Questions? Reach us through the contact options on the site.
